The use of Red Clover (Trifolium pratense)
as an herbal remedy goes back centuries, and this herb boasts of useful
topical and internal applications. Originating from Europe, northern
Asia and Africa, it is a veritable pharmacy!
As a topical
aid, it’s a common ingredient in liniments, salves, and balms.
As a topical
aid, it’s a common ingredient in liniments, salves, and balms. Great
for relieving the pain of eczema, psoriasis, sores, burns, and even
supportive against skin cancer. The pain-relieving properties of red
clover are likely due to the presence of the anti-inflammatory compounds
eugenol, myricetin and salicylic acid found in the flowers.
used as a “blood purifier”, it contains additional active chemicals
thought to encourage internal health – flavonoids and other compounds
are known as phenolics – all of which act as antioxidants, have
anti-inflammatory properties and mild estrogen-like activity. As an
alterative herb, it works to help the body eliminate metabolic wastes,
slowly altering the function of cells and tissues to help bring them
back to normal, healthy function. These actions help to create internal
body health and balance that goes on to effect the wellness of your
skin, your body’s largest organ.

The US is one of the largest consumers of medicinal herbs. And our demand is increasing quickly.
While there has been an ever-growing push for production within our borders, as much as 80% of bulk herbs available now – even from the most well-respected suppliers - are shipped in from international farms to meet demand.
Not only does this increase our reliance on inefficient, earth-destroying supply chains…
also means that much of the beneficial properties these herbs contained
were destroyed as they are subjected to mandatory irradiation at ports
Even when the herbs have been grown organically on US
soil, well, we all know that Organic label doesn’t mean a whole lot when
coming from massive farms in our chemical-saturated world…
perhaps, like me, you’d prefer your wellness-supporting herbs don’t come
with a dose of radiation, possible contamination, or unknown growing
But, what can you do?
How can you ensure the herbs you use and recommend are truly pure and potent?
Where can you find herbs truly worthy of being used medicinally, especially if you can’t grow them yourself?
